I recently stayed in Peerless. The hotel is located in a good place, and the rooms are fine; but the service is terrible here. The staff are usually unwilling to work. It took time for them to prepare the room even after checking in. They could not also provide relevant information about the area.
More disturbingly, while checking out, the staff at the reception could not give a complete bill because of "problems in the system". At check-out, I booked a cab for dropping me off at Howrah (about 6km). They charged me Rs 2500 quoting same price as airport drop (usual Uber price for the drop at Howrah is around Rs 300), and could not give me a bill for it after trying for 15 minutes. Since I already paid the complete bill, I could not do anything at that point. All I could request was to send me the bill to my email; but it has been four days since then and I am yet to receive the bill. I am even unsure whether the charges were real.
Overall, I am not going to stay at Peerless ever again, and I will advise everyone against it.
Did not have a great experience. Booked the hotel for one night, and was given a room which had very damp and dingy smell. The same smell was in the hallways because the carpets are not properly cleaned. The worse part was, there was a rat in the room and I had to instantly ask the staff to change the room. Upon my request, they changed my room to a better and cleaner room, but disheartened this service had to be extended after such an incident. The person who helped me with changing the room was very helpful and courteous, so some extra marks for that.
The buffet had good options, and the taste was okay.
The maintenance of the hotel needs to be better, and it is not as clean as one would expect.
Worst hospitality experience I had in my life. Customer service team lacks empathy, decency, manners and most importantly common sense. When I checked in, hotel staff assured me that my valuables would be stored till I get back in the afternoon. They kept my stuff out in the lobby for 5 hours and the explanation that I got was “we have security cameras”. My room keys didn’t work multiple times and when hotel staff could not figure it out as well, I was told “this is the way it is, you’d have to go with it”. There were 5 of us staying here and I categorically wrote down the names of people (including giving them id cards) staying in each room (3 + 2) split and paid the entire amount which was asked of me even before I checked in. I was told there were no other dues. When I went to check out I was slammed with an extra charge for no apparent reason. The front lobby service manger is a hooligan disguised in a green suit. Lacks basic decency to talk to people. Maybe my skin tone wasn’t pale enough. The issue is not also about the extra charge, it’s about transparency and service quality. The only humane person that I’ve encountered is the house keeping attendant who had the decency of smiling at us. I’ve stayed in various well known brand in India and abroad but never faced such behavior. Please don’t stay at the Peerless; instead stay at well known international brands. The premium you pay is worth it when it comes to maintaining your self respect and worth.

Received good and friendly service. Staff were very attentive to calls and inquiries. Good room service everyday. Would love to visit again.
One issue we faced which is not necessarily the Hotel's fault, but they need to look into this. Even though the hotel is smoke-free and it is advertised on every level and office but some guests smoke cigarettes in rooms and toilets that leaves the rooms very smelly. Upon moving in such rooms, these smelly rooms leave non-smoking guests an unbreathable air in the room. We faced it in one of my rooms as well as in the corridor. Upon request, the staff sprayed air freshener in the room, but the smell didn't go easily. It gave headache to my daughter and myself. I would request the hotel management to take extra measures to stop this happening in future and maintain a smoke-free healthy environment for guests in the hotel.
Stayed at Peerless Inn for 2 nights.
1. Good connectivity - right next to Esplanade metro station.
2. Great staff - Courteous and helpful. Check-in was less than 5 minutes.
3. Clean rooms - bathroom was spotless and the towels & bedsheets were clean and white.
4. Great location - Centrally located and other areas are easily reachable by train, tram, cab and bus.
My stay at the Peerless Hotel in Kolkata was, on the whole, a pleasant experience. One of the hotel's biggest advantages is its central location, making it convenient for exploring the city and accessing various attractions and amenities.
However, there were a few aspects that were slightly offbeat. The elevators in the hotel struck me as somewhat outdated. They are smaller than what you might expect in a contemporary hotel, which can be a bit inconvenient, especially during busier times or for guests with more luggage. Additionally, the elevator buttons are located on the reverse wall, which is an unusual and slightly awkward design choice.
Despite these quirks, the overall stay was enjoyable. The hotel staff were courteous and the rooms comfortable, contributing to a good overall experience.
Stayed at the Peerless hotel with family. Had requested for king bed and another room with twin beds but while checking in the staff informed us that there were only rooms with twin beds available. This fact was not made clear while we were making the bookings. I would also like to say that instead of giving fancy names to packages it should be made very clear whether breakfast options options are complimentary with the packages or not. The rooms we were given smelt old and musty and bathroom amenities were really bad. Only the location of the hotel is the saving grace.
Had a pleasant stay, the room was nice, staff were also nice. Breakfast was great, many options were available.
The best thing about this hotel is its location, next to metro and a bus centre and many shopping places. I surely plan to stay again. 😊
